yup,
I'm addicted...
Got all three pair of the last batch of FG era's. They didn't even hold up that great. I'm betting the new materials are going to be a little more durable.

Vans are just not made the same way as they used to be made. Every pair I have bought since 2000 immediately gets 2 big gaping holes where the rubber separates from the canvas near the ball of my foot area.

I have the slip on's and they last me forever! Even the new ones...but I don't have any of this style. Yet...

pedal got stuck in the downward position. Wrapped my foot around the pedal and stretched my foot till the fabric ripped. Now patched and still trucking...

Jen, being the expert, you think that suede holds up better than canvas? I know it's thicker but it seems like it would rip easier?

Yeah, I hear ya....for some reason my slip ons seem more intact than my Era's. However, I always feel like my feet look weird in them so they don't get too much wear & tear. However, they are great shoes to wear if you ride a fixed gear b/c they elminate the possibility & fear of laces getting caught in the chain! Yikes!

I am no expert (haha), but for me the suede holds up way better than canvas. The old school waves last forever & ever & ever, & I think it is partly b/c there is that strip of suede on the toe portion of the shoe.

I knew you'd have some good info on the topic. I should have gotten the slip on Morfords when I had the chance....

They've got a toe that's some crazy material made for riding...
