New Cadence gear out in time for the holidays... Here's an item from the collection especially for Mark.
Most importantly, I'm going to be a father of a little bike riding dude in about 4 months. Most of you already knew this but just in case you didn't... Here's an ultrasound of my Milk Man just kicking it. Don't feel obligated to sit thru all 12 min.
Lastly and leastly, this will be my new post Christmas whip. I know a chrome fork and carbon seatpost make for an odd couple but you gotta play the hand you're dealt.
Rode w/ Aaron and Seth from Boston today. It was Slipperier when wet than New Jersey but fun was had none the less.
So things have been slow over here. Kinda like me in an alleycat. When we pass 5k hits on the site be ready for a meggapost! Heck Mark might even put up a new header and post an update.
Dura Ace NJS cranks Nitto SP72 Jaguar Seatpost Nitto Pearl stem and bars bullhorns, risers and drops Turbo saddle MKS GR9 pedals and clips w/ Toshi straps Mavic CXP12s laced to Phil 28h 110mm Keirin spaced fixed/fixed hub Surly 19t and a Phil 17t
Get on your respective whips and MASH up to your respective polling locations and Fill in some ovals! Go straight ticket R or D Whatever. Or write in Bob Barker like I did... JUST VOTE!
I'm still kinda floating after the fun that was had yesterday. There's a lot more people than Mark and I that made everything happen and there's a lot of thanks in order.
Track Stand - Rocky Quick Stop - Fred Impromptu sprints - Alan Foot Down - ? long skids - Aaron Trick Skids - Me/Todd (Huntsville) Polo - Pretty much the team w/ the most Huntsville guys Kicker Jam - Brandon (Huntsville) Flatland Jam - Dustin (Huntsville) U Lock Pick up - Dustin (Huntsville) Gnarliest wipe out - Matt Gregg
Thanks to...
Peter/Faith, I was pretty shocked when Mark told me how you were behind us. The shoes were a great prize and nothing could have been more appropriate.
Nonstop/Terrence/Chadence, The work you two did on the bag was some of the best I have ever seen. I know that you guys spent a lot of hours getting that thing to look as perfect as it did. It's in good well appreciating hands. Terry your filming editing is getting better and better. Thanks for putting the time in to documenting everything.
Primavera/Brett, Thanks for the three nickle bag hook up. Those beans will be pressed into highly regulated traffic MASHing.
Carrie/Elisa/Amanda/Triatha-Blog Great of you guys to throw in a great prize for us. Alan Farton is going to love sticking his nose in the latest issues of Urban Velo.
Vic/Twofivefix/Huntsville Your crew really shined. Taking home the best two prizes we had! We couldn't have played an ounce of polo w/o you bringing out the sets. I'm going to wear the Track-O-Bama shirt to the polls in the morning and we'll see what happens. The lights were a plus. You guys make great judges and even better riders. Come back soon Vic and let me pedal that Makino build around. It was great meeting you guys.
Urban Standard I think that I'm going to let my loyalty speak for itself. Tom & Eric, I'll see you Saturday for breakfast, lunch & dinner if I miss seeing you Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday morning. You guys have done a great thing and are a gleaming example of how to do "downtown" correctly. Keep it up Poland!
Aaron/Lane Woodworking Aaron, you built a heck of a ramp. Sorry I wasn't there to build it with you. I know you had a heck of a week. Congrats on the long skid and thanks for getting my feet wet with this craziness!
Lastly I have to say how horrible I feel about the insane spill Matt took during long skids. He's got a broken arm, 2 monster raspberries and went into the thing with a near 2nd degree burn from a grease fire. Feel better soon Matt! You got some tricks up your sleeve that this town needs to see.
Pictures of the event are here and here. Thanks Alan, Elisa & Jennifer for those.
So it looks like there's a little more to the Van's Fixed Gear London Romance than just a prototype bike SuperTED whipped up. Find more pictures of the London crew here...
For some reason Vimeo isn't working on my workstation but that makes me a little more productive. This one looks good and clean from what I can see. Looking forward to checking it out tonight. You can beat me to the punch and watch it right here right now right here right now right here right now.
I'd like to throw out an additional thanks for a last minute sponsor. The ladies of Triathablog are going to throw a prize into the mix and we're grateful. Check out their blog and what they've got going on over here.
Also there's a mr. cool guy that's half way promised some mr. cool stuff. More details on that coming soon.
Here's shots of the Fixed Gear London Vans project bike. I'm not certain on the details of Vans involvement here but the bike has great stuff going on. SuperTED and a guy named Andy had their hands in the project. Nice straight no rake fork, Charge saddle, Profile hubs (Terrence), Thomson stem and seat-post. On a partially related side note, I put my eyes on Faith's fixed Vans. They're different than the ones I have as there is less padding and the entire shoe is ripstop. There's a reflective band around shoe opening and they're all blacked out. From what Mark Leo's ghost told me they're classics and mine are Era's? I'll never understand the Van's nomenclature but they're dope. There's 4-5 pairs left and I was told special orders can be made. The more we support local stores that bring in fixed specific products the more there will be. Get out and buy ems!
Last night was a great time. Thanks Clay for organizing it and making the Flava of Bike medallion. Keep your eyes on Brocycle for the results cause I'm not going to spoil nuthin.
P and S, we just broke 3000 hits since we set up the counter. That's prolly not that many in comparison to other blogs but Woo Hoo regardless.
Does this guy do any tricks outside of this park? I've seen him ride up a tree. Gap a sidewalk and now this all right there... There'd be so much to think about w/ this. Crank position, hop height, catching the bars. Kudo's ST...
There's so much new gear available as of today. Take a look at some of the new goodies.
More Era's. Faith now has one of the fixed Vans but I'm not certain what one... Could be the black colorway in this batch.
Cadence Era 5
Here's got to be the best of the findings. It's a one off Cadence jacket w/ windproof chest and reflective details. Already sold so tisk tisk on that one.
Dave's Quality TEAM (meat) has started selling Vans Fixed Gear Era's. Get yours sliced deli thin. Setting foot in DQM is on my Bucket List. Just behind kicking Ashton Kutcher in the marbles and right before Skydiving w/ Jack Nicholson.
Now there's something about these I might have seen before but I can't put my finger on it...
The prize tires given out at Connect 4 (thanks Jonathan) were the Soma Everwear. Here's a nice test that Alan mentioned from Cog Magazine. Too bad they didn't test the local's favorite Continental Gatorskin. The $40 Everware tested well w/ 160+ skids. If you're like me and can't or won't swing $30 for 4 magazines then you probably haven't seen this.
But then again, no one skids anymore anyways. And that's just sad...
Fun night last night. Braxton going wild on the 4 bike track-stand pictured below. The camera in my cellphone is pretty crackerjack so the picture is grainier than a loaf of Big Sky bread.
I'm wanting to get an early start tomorrow. If you want to get riding earlier than the normal 6-7 give me a call. I'll be back at the normal spot in front of Gallery Lofts @ 7. Send me a message if you want to get out before then... Jarrodallen@gmail.com
So Freeman Transport launched their site today. Go take a look at what they've got going on. There's something amazing about fitting a bicycle into a 26" x 26" x 10" suitcase. Not this amazing tho...
Anyone else noticing this slight resurgence in track-stand trick variations? I don't know who this is or how he got there but I got to hand it to the guy for getting that tangled up. I don't see what's putting forward pressure on the bike. Could be that he's sitting on the pedal or doing everything w/ his hand. Hope that chain's clean. Found on Fixie Pixie.
Had a blast despite my placings in the Race and Contests. I have a lot of appreciation for everyone that organized, donated prizes, opened their businesses and everything else anyone did. Can't wait to see more pictures and Seth & Paul's video.
Ranking close to the top of my most desired bikes is the Cinelli Mash collaboration for the Vigorelli. We posted about it way back here... It's got the H+SON Mash wheels and the thing looks even better than the previous shots we had on it.
Perhaps one day in the not to distant future the bumpy downtown roads won't shake my headset loose. Looks like LaLa's going to dump $27 mill into repaving. Never mind the dead trees and blown streetlights. Not to mention that murder-rate. Keep the river of stupidity flowing Double L. In the meantime I'm going to dump $27.00 into a new headset...
